Age of Anxiety conjures the undeniable talents of Raymond Acevedo, Aurelio Laing III, Enrique Palacios and Nathan Slimane... each bringing 20+ years of unique musical experience to the table. The ingenuous insights of the 30-something quartet have proven to be among music's "best-kept-secrets" as they continue to emerge with a keen perception of modern songwriting; increasingly potent and profound lyrics, blurred lines of rock, pop and soul, resulting in a pleasantly abstract fusion of extraordinary sounds. Their latest self-titled release reveals a bountiful spectrum of rich acoustic ballads, edgy techno pop and surreal electronic interludes which leads to a reflective mood of introspection and inspiration. The integration of layered elements aids in the assimilation of the senses and beckons for repeated listening.

While their influences are many (Dead Can Dance, New Order/Joy Division/Warsaw, This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus, Gang of Four, Air, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, The Smiths, Coldplay, Radiohead + more), their steadfast experimentations of sound allows creativity to develop in the strangest forms. The band is unbelievably gifted in many ways -- while recording at Neuron Studios, there's no distinct 'guitarist, bass, drummer'... but rather, all roles are shared, playing whatever's needed for a particular piece. Together, they utilize various conventional and abstract noise makers, including 6-string electrics, nylons, bass, drums, bells, whistles, acoustics, xylophones, wood blocks, vox amps, organs, Korg and Roland keyboards, toy pianos, casino keyboards, rainsticks, nature and a plethora of other machines and tweaks.

On the horizon, much more extraordinary work can be anticipated from Age of Anxiety, who are currently mixing their forthcoming New Age instrumental release, Fields of Forel. One thing's certain... whatever creative direction the band may lead, their intrepid perceptions of sound will pioneer a new generation of astonishing music.- they've only just begun!
